GANUE Audio just released Rivet, a free FET compressor plugin for Windows and macOS. It's input-driven rather than threshold-based, so you're pushing signal in with Input and pulling level back with Output, which forces you to actually listen to how a track reacts under pressure instead of setting a number and forgetting it. That workflow alone makes it worth ten minutes of your time even if you never use it outside of testing.

OA-Labs also dropped Phosphor-1, a free virtual analog synth for macOS built around what they call "controllable instability." Free synths are usually a coin flip, but the demos on this one sound like it can actually do useful subtractive work, not just novelty drift and detune.

What I'm actually running right now

My go-to this month is still a stock compressor chain into the TR-808 sounds for anything trap-adjacent, but I've got Rivet loaded up on a test session to see if it earns a permanent spot. Early impression: it's fast to dial in and doesn't add the harshness some free FET emulations do.
